Howdy,

Here is a simple "day hiking checklist" just food for thought. I usually take almost everything listed here for any day hike, except rain gear(hardly rains in the desert). Fill free to add your two cents.

Much the same here, except no sweater/jacket unless the night might get chilly. Raingear is a lightweight poncho - weighs nearly nothing!

Add a good stout fixed-blade knife. If you do get stuck overnight, it'll come in mighty handy!
I like the LED headlight too - provides light to walk or work, and keeps the hands free. Batteries last a long time.

That's a good point, I mean knife to add. I carry one but forgot to list it. Hey, BTW how you been, it's been awhile, been camping?

No, no camping lately, but I have just done something to take my future camping in a very new direction......

i'll add the knife especially those that has multi-purpose and head lights..where planning on camping and thanks for the tip..

these are good list for 1st time campers..and addition to that lots of water drinks should be needed..
