  • FLA Panhandle FEAST

After a recent drive-about of the FLA Panhandle coast one fact is clear.
The harvest from the gulf is healthy there.
Had to stand in line at GoatFeathers in Santa Rosa.
    Other spots had packed houses.
And, we finished off or oyster supply here in Indiana last evening.

    Re: FLA Panhandle FEAST

Glad y'all found some of our good Gulf Oysters to take back!

Yes, as a now-retired co-worker used to say - "Florida dodged a bullet" with respect to the recent BP oil spill. La. did have some major disruption of their fishing industry, but some quirk in current flow combined with the chemical 'dispersant' sinking the oil into the deeper bottom areas kept it from our waters. I would have been sore PO'd had we lost our famous "Apalachicola Bay Oysters"!!

We do need to keep an eye on this though - that oil is still 'down there', and Corexit is very deadly and nasty stuff! Google it up.... makes for horrifying reading! I just hope that stuff doesn't rise back up like some Fifties Scifi movie monster and threaten our nice beaches again! We like our tourists, camping and otherwise, and want Florida to remain on everybody's list to visit!
Longtime Motorcycle Camper. Getting away from it all on two wheels!
