I took my wife for a drive today up thru Island Park, Idaho to West Yellowstone.
I drove thru the area in Island Park where I set up elk camp. The back roads still have some 2-3 foot high drifts across them. A few downed trees required me to get out and push them off to the side. There are lots of standing water pools from the snow melt and we drove thru a couple of cloud bursts.
The rivers are topped out.
The tourists haven't shown up yet. West Yellowstone is pretty slow. The daytime high was about 55 degrees.
Everything is really green and the aspen are all leafed out! It is a beautiful time of year but still muddy in the backcountry.
I should have taken my camera and posted some photos but I forgot it in my haste to get out of town.
We ended the trip with a great burger at the famous FrostTop Drive-in in Ashton and a stop at Sportsman's Warehouse in Idaho Falls where I reviewed my list of new equipment additions that I want this year.
It was a great day in Idaho!
