      That's good advice. You don't want to be learning how to use gear in an emergency, let alone figuring out if it works.

        I have bic lighters in my pack,fanny pack, day pack etc.. also there is a bic in each of our cars. In really cold weather I still carry an old silver lighter that uses lighter fluid and a wick, it works every time, though it does need to have the flint and wick replaced from time to time and you have to fill it with lighter fluid when the resevoir cotton starts to dry out.
