Camping Tip: How much juice do I have?
Howdy,
If you ever wondered how much propane(juice) you got in a steel canister, here a couple of suggestions that I use.
Warm Water Test:
Get a cup of warm water from the tap and pour it over any side of the propane gas can. As the water runs down the side it will condense and begin to freeze where the propane is in the tank. The gas inside the propane tank will always be colder than the warm water. That way you can visually see how much you got left.
Cheap Weigh Scale Test:
Use a cheap weight scale from your bathroom or one bought from a second hand store, I don't care how it looks. Place it under an empty steel propane tank and write the weight of the tank with a black marker. Then go have your propane tank filled. Then when you get ready to use it on the barbi, take that ratty scale you bought and place it under the barbeque and set your filled propane tank on it. Write the filled weight of the propane tank. Then whenever you look you will always know how much gas you got left.
