Is there that much difference between the cheaper canopies? By cheaper I mean an EZ-up style 8'x8'ish, $50 range canopy.

Re: Cheap Canopies
Thought I should clarify my question a little more.
My wife is going with my son and I camping this weekend. I want to be able to give her a little relief from the sun during the day, and my thoughts are a canopy should handle the job. But working with a limited budget of around $50 to drop on one, I am stuck looking at lower end units.
Are there any design or material difference I should be looking at?

Re: Cheap Canopies
Simply put, no. EZ-up style will probably suit you just fine. Depending on the weather and wind EZ-ups are fine. With perfect conditions every time an in-expensive canopy may last a couple of seasons or more. Can't predict the future, but you'll be fine as a start!Get campin', Renodesertfox A canvas campateer

Re: Cheap Canopies
HS, not too late at all, we aren't leaving until 3 this afternoon when Momma gets home from work, and I was still dragging my feet on what to do. I ended up going out to Farm and Fleet just to check out the EZ-up brand canopies, to see if I could justify spending more than I wanted too. They have the Sierra II on sale right now for $60. Made it an easy choice, now as soon as my wife gets home I get to go play with my new toy.
