Car camping BLM senic backcountry byways?

I live in Cali, and am wondering if this is done much. Gets you way off the beaten path, yet on a lot of the byways 2wd is all you need, sometimes high clearance 2wd.

BLM Scenic byways? Great idea. I get off the beaten path as much as possible. We bought and old Ford E150 Club Wagon and it sure gets us in nice areas. It has high ground clearance to go down bumpy roads. Where do you plan on going? There is BLM land everywhere.
