  • Fly fishing Tips

My 2 boys and I had free fly fishing lessons on the North Fork of the Clearwater River in Idaho. It was a lot of fun. A female fishing guide took us under her wings and showed us how to do it. It is addicting. Anyone here fly fish? We want to get set up for river and shoreline lake fishing. We live in California.

Any ideas, tips, where to buy equipment will be appreciated. Next year we plan on driving through the lower US from California to Arkansas. We want to river fish and see the fall colors. We need plenty of practice before we set out.

    Re: Fly fishing Tips

Hours on the water matter much more than the quality of your equipment. There are many great catalogues and you can spend as much as you want. It is very useful to continue with the instruction, or find some people to fish with that know more than you do. Some people make fly fishing much more difficult than it needs to be. I always have the most fun when the selection of flies is pretty obvious, and streamlined fishing is productive.
