Who completed the first solo balloon crossing of the Atlantic, 25 years ago on September 18? The flight went from Maine to Italy, took four days, and set a world record for the longest distance flown in a 3,000 cubic meter helium balloon. This distinguished aviator received the National Air and Space Museum's Trophy for Lifetime Achievement last year.
