  • Old Ironsides Has New Duties

You probably knew that the USS Constitution – better known as Old Ironsides – is the oldest commissioned warship in the world and a premier attraction of Boston National Historical Park. But did you know that it’s now America’s Ship of State?

As on old sailor myself, and having actually stood onthe U.S.S. Constitution's deck and seen her 'turn about' during the July Fourth celebration of 1984, I have mixed reservations about this.
It's good to know she will remain in her duties of educating the citizens of this nation about the ship, and the Navy in general.
But, I am saddened that she will be used as a political set piece by an administration that has NOT shown itself a friend to the American military and it's service people. :o

I don't think Old Ironsides should be used as a political piece by any administration.
I would like to the ship sail to different U.S. ports.

These tall ships are as impressive as anything they build today. I always wanted to sail on one. I agree that our pompus leaders do nothing to show respect to our Military history or service men and woman. You can actualy see a look of contempt and disgust on obama's face everytime he mentions the US Military. Well I'll quit here before I turn this into a political forum.
