Howdy Campateers...back in July we purchased a Platypus Gravity Fed Water Purification System so we would never again have to pack a load of water with us and have it take up valuable gear space and weight. One gallon of H2O weighs nearly eight pounds! So to that end we also discovered the Platy Preserve.

We started using it for carrying our wine and liquor when we went camping. Wine bottles are usually made of glass and are heavy and clumsy to store also. Also, most camp grounds have rules about bringing glass bottles into campgrounds! Well, the Platy Preserve, manufactured by Platypus has come to our rescue!

The delicate taste of vintage wine changes with exposure to oxygen. If not properly preserved, wine can go bad in as little as two to eight hours.
The Platy Preserve is the best way to protect the taste of an opened bottle of wine by eliminating the presence of oxygen.

We always had to take a cork puller and rubber stoppers too when we traveled. And traveling with an open wine bottle in your vehicle is asking for a DUI on the spot. And not only are we using them for wine and liquor but ice tea, milk and OJ! The materials that Platy have zero taste transfer to your wine or any beverage! It's a great way to save space, weight and packing! One Platy Preserve will carry 800ml or 27 oz of liquid and there are four of these to a box. Red Wine we put in the black capped Preserves and our white wine goes into the clear capped packages. When empty, you just rinse them out with water and hang them up to dry and air-out! It only took me an additional 15 minutes to ready the case of wine and drinks that we took camping this past Labor Day Weekend. Of course it helps to have a small funnel to do the liquid transfer without spilling. The small funnel isn't included but most anyone has at least one lying around someplace. They are made here in the US in Seattle, and anything that originates out of the state of Washington is pretty good.

“People have such a love for the truth that when they happen to love something else, they want it to be the truth; and because they do not wish to be proven wrong, they refuse to be shown their mistake. And so, they end up hating the truth for the sake of the object which they have come to love instead of the truth.”
