  • Which one to go with?

Hello, brand new to this forum, seems to have great info! I'm purchasing a new "family" tent. I have narrowed it to two. 1.) Eureka Copper canyon w/1.9 oz 75Dpoly taffeta and 1200mm coating (stormshield on fly)
2.) Columbia Timber Butte w/190T poly taffeta and 800mm coating on tent and fly. I'm not sure the difference between the poly differences and coatings. Can someone help? Camping in mid-west so, rain and heat are the issue we deal with.

    Thanks for any advice!

    Which one to go with?

    Howdy iaharley,

I upgraded last year, every web site said the same thing in different ways. We chose(bride & I) because our kids are married but we wanted strong too. I almost went with the Columbia tent, but went with the Eureka. I'm sure my reasons for buying a better tent are different from yours since you are a family man and I'm not. Here are four web sites that I found to help me through the process of what different manufactures said of their tents. I'm sure these will help. Personally I really like the Columbia tents and they have an excellent warrenty as does Eureka.

I spent long hours in research and ended with an Eureka, but next time, maybe 5 to 10 years from now we'll choose Columbia or maybe somebody better. Good luck, which one to go with is such a personal issue, these sites are very good in explanations. Check out my photo albums from the member's list, I got a photo or two of our "Copper Canyon."
