    I definitely don't remember knots, even though I've studied them for years. I use one simple slip knot for everything. I get my tensioning by putting bungee cords on just about every line. That makes them pretty much self-adjusting and great when the wind starts kicking up.

        If you put your hitch (or tensioner) up by your tent loop, instead of down by the stake, you can tighten up your guy lines without bending over.
