Hello again fellow campers. I need as many people to respond to this as can be. Please give me your best advice on campgrounds to stay at. I live in Maryland, so I am looking for spots that offer tons of things for children to do and for families to get involved in. My ideal spot would be secluded, up in the mountains somewhere, plenty of shade and beside a deep lake. We went to Raystown Lake Resort last summer in Pennslyvania. It is nice and I would recommend any campers to go there, try the 25pd plus carp feeding down at the marina. The kids get a blast out of hand feeding the big fish. Literally 20 or more huge fish will come up to the edge of the lake and let the kids feed them. I spent 3 or 4 bucks and an hour watching my little girl do it. Anyway, we are adventurers and are looking for great places to camp, preferably within a few hours of home. Please give me your best advice. Thank you.

Secluded ... Maryland ... Those 2 words don't go together for family camping . For mountains, lakes, and shade, I suggest New Germany or Rocky Gap state parks. I haven't been to either one myself yet, but they sound like what you're looking for. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/campinginfo.aspTotal nights sleeping outdoors in 2013: 28

Re: Best Campgrounds on East Coast
Hi there,
If you have a smartphone there's also a free app you can download called Pocket Ranger. It lets you search for state parks by region and activity, so it's really helpful when trying to narrow it down to a specific type of campground.
Good luck,
Sam
