hi everyone, i'm looking to camp for 3 or 4 days on the beach at the outer banks. i don't really know the first thing about camping on the beach, as i've never done it before, but i would love to be able to build a fire on the sand and just hang out there. are there campsites or beaches that will let you just pitch a tent and camp out there? i've been looking at these campsites at http://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm but they don't seem to be on the actual beach itself.
so i would appreciate any advice at all! is it actually not as enjoyable to camp on the beach? i don't think we'll really need bathrooms/other amenities that campsites normally provide, so camping on the sand seems ideal to me, but what do you all recommend? also any beach/campsite recommendations that actually allow pitching a tent on the sand would be greatly appreciated.
