  • Southeastern AZ?

Five years ago we winter camped in Oak Creek Canyon at Manzanita CG, 'bout 7 miles north of Sedona stayed there 7 days then drove over to the White Mountains and stayed there three days. Not much snow but plenty cold!

It's been a good number of years since I was down thata way. Wonder what's extreme southeastern Arizona has in the way of BLM lands to disperse camp? Or other areas to camp in national forests? All suggestions welcomed! Thanks!

    Re: Southeastern AZ?

I stayed in the White Mountains for 6 weeks this summer July, August, and it was cold then not what you would expect for Arizona. I usually bounce around casino camping while in Tucson area, but there are a couple of spots in Tucson on BLM land Snyder hill, and if my memory serves me well theres also a spot north on Aldin road. South of Tucson has alot of BLM land, State trust land, and the Coronado national forest. The state trust land requires a permit cost is around $15. The Coronado has a ton of spots quite a few along hwy 83 towards Sonoita Gardner Canyon is one of the more popular, also some east of Green Valley, and if you wanna go way south the Patagonia area has a few areas as well. Watch out for illegals in such areas found a few backpacks on my hike this morning. Hope this helps any questions feel free to ask.

RENO: did a little web-surfing for info on BLM in SE AZ...both for myself and to assist you, as you
have been more than generous with info. for us all...just trying to pay back what I can...

camparizona.com had the most info. for that area...HOWEVER...
majority of the sites listed(camping areas) were either closed or charged a fee for use...

only one listing showed any promise:it is as follows:
      JOHN HANDS CAMPGROUND-tents only-No fee
      6 sites
      no water or hookups
each site has firering, table, firepit grill
      Bring your own firewood,charcoal,propane stove
      Information #:520-364-3468

there are a few other listings that are still open, the website listed above
will have the details...haven't been in that area yet, so can't tell you firsthand
how good the locations are...they're on my list of possibilities for the coming
      months...
hope this helps or gets you headed in the right direction...

Theres always sites like http://freecampsites.net/attribute/states/az/ sure that its been mentioned on here before. My favorite method is to pull up google maps look at the green areas (national forests) find a fire road, always a place to pull off and stay for a week or two.

That's the way we do it up in Utah, Idaho & Wyoming! Disperse camping is a great lifestyle! I've seen freecampsites website and there are always a few spots mentioned but usually they are pretty much ruined by other campers that don't respect the land. The "great spots" aren't talked about and for good reason! We are kinda talkin 'bout camping in the Chiricahua Mountains, just west of the town of Chiricahua in a season or two! Old Fort Rucker is up Tex Canyon and it is a beautiful area! Back in the middle 1970s I did a hitch at Ft. Huachuca(love SE AZ)!

Good day, I think it`s obvious that if the casino refuses to withdraw your winnings, they are clearly trying to scam players. Of course, that sounds very bad, nothing else. I get angry every time I faced such casinos or when I hear things like this. If I don`t want that some strange and unfair stuff will happen to me in future I will use
